ARTISTRY IN MOTION #13: Marianela Nunez as Gamzatti in Bayadere

How gorgeous she is. She is beautifully dressed in a costume which seems to be a part of her body and complements every move. Notice how she has such complete freedom of movement and expressiveness in her torso. And such soft arms as she extends her legs. Mesmerizing.

  1. I don’t know much about pointe work, however, it seems that what Marianela is doing is exceptional. Strong and well controlled. The choreography is quite lovely and could be performed on half toe and still be readable. As you say, Marianela’s interpretation is expressive and flowing. She understands the role she is playing and brings to it her individual artistry as a dancer. Quite inspiring, plenty to think about.
