Zoom Live: Beginner Ballet Level 2

Get On Your Leg So You Can Pirouette!
This class is geared to adults who have limited ballet training, lack turnout and strength, and are not natural dancers. You will strengthen your balance as you strengthen your feet and identify the #1 leg — your pillar — through which the body weight falls fully into an active foot, balancing, ready to push down into motion. You will grasp the essential ideas of the ballet movement process while being reminded of the often-neglected basics that make the difference. The class always concludes practicing quarter and half-turns from fifth position.
13 barre exercises. 1 stretch without support, 12 exercises using the barre/chair (8 are done facing front with arms in second position, 4 are done on the diagonal with one hand on the barre. The final 2 exercises are quarter-turn pirouettes from fifth position turning from the front to the side, and then recovering the starting position.
Ideally (you may have to rearrange your furniture) you have an open space approximately 5 feet by 5 feet so that you can move forward, backward, and sideways.
Students should have a form of a ballet barre to hold onto (e.g. back of chair, kitchen counter or portable barre) find sufficient space to perform barre exercises and a modified center that remains in place.
Ballet class attire or tight-fitting clothing is recommended in order for you to observe your body placement in the mirror. Women please put your hair up so Finis can see your head and neck clearly.
Experiment with the placing of your viewing device so that Finis can see your entire body from head to toe with arms reaching out to the sides.
