WHAT IS IT?
Balancé may be defined as “Rocking step.” It is like the pas de valse, but it has a different body shape as it is an alternation of balance, shifting the weight from one foot to the other, usually with the head and body inclined. Where the waltz is a more upright step as it begins with a plié followed by two steps on the half-toe with knees straight, the balancé is more robust and energetic as it begins with a light jump into a demi-plié, followed by a step on the half-toe with the other foot off the ground, and ends in a demi-plié with the other foot pointed at the ankle. Although the exercise formats are simple, they demand turnout, core and foot strength, working the arms, and bending the body. You will dance!
WHO IS IT FOR?
Please read the description and list of exercises to make sure you are technically strong enough to participate fully. This Mini-Intensive class size is limited to only ten students so that Finis can see each one of you in every exercise and coach and correct you. You should already be warmed up, either from the preceding class or on your own. You must have enough space in your home so that Finis can see your entire body from head to toe with both arms extended. You must have enough clear space to move six feet in either direction. You should be dancing on a flat smooth floor and not on a rug or carpeting. Please wear proper ballet attire. And please set your recording device with a horizontal view so Finis can see your entire body as you move from one place to another.

4. Off the barre – Repeat Exercise 3.
5. At the barre – Balancé en avant facing effacé, temps lié en arrière

7. Off the barre – Repeat Exercise 6 faster
