PLIÉ-RELEVÉ: When you demi-plié for a relevé, don’t relax into it and make it so deep that you have to pull your knee up and lift the heel. Instead, resist the plié—oppose the downward movement keeping your hips high so you connect your supporting toes to the hip. Then, when you push the supporting knee past the toe and press down, you will relevé smoothly and balance. Yes you are always stretched up, but don’t pull up out of the plié. Always push down to go up.
